Partnership connects Axia patients to women’s mental health care through their existing OB/GYN relationship

VOORHEES TOWNSHIP, N.J., Oct. 7, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Axia Women’s Health, one of the nation’s largest independent women’s healthcare groups, today announced a partnership with FamilyWell Health to expand access to mental health care designed specifically for women. The new offering will connect Axia patients with support tailored to experiences from fertility and pregnancy through postpartum, perimenopause and menopause.

FamilyWell was founded by Dr. Jessica Gaulton following her own experience with postpartum depression. Its focus has since grown to address women’s mental health across life stages, aligning closely with Axia’s commitment to caring for women throughout their lives.

“Women turn to their OB/GYNs throughout their lives, including during some of their most difficult moments—from fertility challenges and pregnancy loss to postpartum struggles and the changes of menopause,” said Kyle Snook, CEO of Axia Women’s Health. “Through these ongoing relationships, we have an important duty to recognize when a patient needs support and help her access it. We chose FamilyWell because its team understands these experiences and has built specialized mental health care around women’s needs.”

Through the partnership, an Axia clinician will be able to connect a patient with FamilyWell’s virtual team of care coordinators, coaches, therapists and psychiatric providers. Rather than ending with a referral, the approach is designed to support a path into treatment and keep the patient’s OB/GYN clinician connected to her care. FamilyWell’s collaborative care model provides a framework for coordination and for adjusting support as a patient’s needs change.

“FamilyWell began with my own experience as a new mother, but a woman’s need for specialized mental health care doesn’t begin or end in the postpartum period,” said Dr. Jessica Gaulton, MD, MPH, Founder and CEO of FamilyWell Health. “A woman navigating fertility challenges, a new mother experiencing anxiety, and a woman facing the emotional changes of perimenopause may each need different kinds of support at different points in their lives. Axia shares our belief that women should be able to access the right mental health care at the right time, through the trusted healthcare relationships they already have.”

FamilyWell’s approach is supported by peer-reviewed research published in the Maternal and Child Health Journal in April 2026. The study found that its integrated program was associated with improvements in depression and anxiety symptoms among pregnant and postpartum patients.

The partnership is expected to launch this fall across Axia’s network in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Indiana and Kentucky. By connecting virtual behavioral health services with its existing clinical teams, Axia aims to make mental and physical health care more connected for patients throughout their lives.
