As FCC Pushes Industry Toward All-IP Future, TNS Tapped to Speak at Commission’s IP Transition Workshop

TNS:

WHAT:

As the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) moves to ensure that the telecommunications industry fully transitions from legacy voice networks to all-Internet Protocol (IP) networks, the need for a replacement model that is standardized, secure, IP-based, and scalable enough to work across the broader voice ecosystem has never been greater. To advance the FCC’s proposed reforms, the FCC’s Wireline Competition Bureau is hosting an upcoming IP Transition Workshop.

WHO:

Jim Tyrrell, Vice President of Product Management – Information Solutions, TNS Communications Market, has been invited to speak on the panel “Other IP Transition-Related Issues,” where he will bring extensive expertise to the FCC’s discussions on how to make the transition seamless, inclusive and future-proof. Tyrrell will discuss the current framework and its impact on smaller and rural carriers, network resilience and operational governance obligations, as well as public safety considerations and the importance of seamless interconnection during this transition.

According to Tyrrell: “We look forward to working collaboratively with the FCC and industry stakeholders to advance IP routing approaches that leverage existing technologies and enable a seamless transition to IP-based traffic exchange. Fortunately, since proven, industry-endorsed solutions already exist that address numbering access, robocall prevention, and accessibility—there’s no need to reinvent the wheel. TNS is ready to help the industry understand the best path forward to make that transition a reality.”

WHY:

The FCC is mandating this transition, but doing so prudently, and industry experts from across the ecosystem, including TNS, are diligently working together to ensure a seamless transition that keeps the integrity of communications, without administrative or contractual burdens and without compromising any of the critical interconnection criteria and services. As a leading provider of mission-critical communications solutions, TNS Communications Market brings industry-endorsed expertise to the table, with proven IP routing approaches that leverage existing technologies, eliminating the need to build from scratch. These solutions are designed to meet the full requirements of the IP transition, including robocall prevention, accessibility, and seamless numbering access. They also address the critical question: when the FCC sunsets the existing TDM model, will there be a practical model in place?
