New guide examines plan pricing, feature tiers and costs that can fall outside the subscription fee.

Austin, Texas, October 5, 2026: Software Advice, a G2 company that helps organizations research and select business software, has published its 2026 HR Software Pricing Guide, comparing pricing and cost structures across ten human resources software platforms included in the research.

The guide reports entry-level prices ranging from $8 to $120 per month across the products compared, depending on pricing model, with mid-tier prices from $17 to $239 and high-end prices from $25 to $699. For the subscription-based systems analyzed on a per-user, per-month basis, the research reports average prices of approximately $39 at entry level, $81 at mid tier and $162 at the high end.

Software Advice says the comparison was designed to show buyers that plan names alone do not create an apples-to-apples comparison. Vendors can place similar HR capabilities in different tiers, which means buyers may need to compare the plan that actually meets their requirements rather than compare entry-level prices in isolation.

For the pricing comparison, the methodology states that Software Advice selected ten products from its Best Software research that had been frequently recommended by its advisors over the prior two years and had publicly available pricing information. A broader feature analysis reviewed approximately 50 products qualifying as HR software to examine how capabilities are distributed across pricing tiers.

The guide also identifies expenses that may sit outside the headline plan price. These include customization, installation and setup, integrations, data migration, training, premium support, maintenance, consulting and, for some on-premise deployments, hardware and IT infrastructure.
